Several members of SAGMRS spent the day sharpening their severe weather awareness skills at a Skywarn training session hosted at Trinity University. The event was a collaborative effort between Trinity University and the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, bringing together weather enthusiasts, amateur radio operators, and community volunteers from across the region.
Skywarn training equips participants with the knowledge to identify and accurately report severe weather conditions—information that plays a crucial role in keeping communities safe during storms. From understanding storm structure to recognizing early signs of tornado development, the session offered valuable insights that strengthen our group’s ability to support emergency communications when it matters most.
We’re proud of our members for continuing to invest in their skills and for representing SAGMR in such an important community-focused program. A big thank‑you to Trinity University and the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio for hosting an informative and well‑organized training.
More opportunities like this help us stay ready, stay connected, and stay committed to serving our community.
